Company profile

About conet

conet is a leading full-service IT provider and a trusted digitalization partner for public administration, the defense sector, and companies in Automotive, Finance & Insurance, Energy & Utilities, and Manufacturing. More than 2,000 IT experts work at more than 20 locations across Europe on demanding digital transformation projects. Founded in 1987, the company is headquartered in Bonn today. Its portfolio focuses on Digital Administration, Digital Defense, and Business Transformation & Platforms, as well as areas such as Cloud, Data & AI, and Cyber Security.

conet has grown steadily through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. At the end of 2025, its German subsidiaries were consolidated under conet Deutschland GmbH. As part of its HORIZON28 strategy, the group aims to grow its annual revenue to around 500 million euros by 2028; today it stands at more than 340 million euros. Making efficient use of internal skills and resources is a key enabler in achieving this goal.

“For an IT services company, resource utilization is everything. You always need to ask: Is everyone assigned to projects, or are there utilization gaps? And if there are, why?”

Gerlinde Graßmann, Senior Project Manager, conet

Starting point

The Challenge

As conet grew strongly and integrated additional companies, the need for unified, group-wide management of skills and resources grew as well. Over the years, different solutions and processes had emerged across the individual companies. For the next phase of growth, the goal was to bring these together on a common foundation and to create transparency over skills, profiles, and capacity across company boundaries.

An evolved solution landscape

The group companies used a range of solutions for skill and resource management, from Excel spreadsheets and Jira plugins to custom-built applications. The goal was to bring this evolved landscape on a single platform, creating a shared foundation for collaboration across the group.

Scaling CV creation efficiently

As the company grew and tender requirements increased, creating and updating profiles became more time-consuming. The aim was to make the process more efficient and standardized, particularly for large tenders requiring a substantial number of CVs.

Creating group-wide transparency

Information about skills and utilization was already available, but had to be compiled from different sources to provide a complete view across the group companies. A central solution was intended to make this information easier to access and support sales, staffing, and management.

“Over the years, we used a wide range of tools, from custom-built solutions and Excel spreadsheets to Jira plugins. As we grew, so did the need to bring skills and resources together on a consistent foundation.”

Evaluation

Choosing decídalo

conet ran a structured RFI process with a worldwide market analysis. Three providers made the shortlist, from which decídalo emerged as the number one recommendation and was confirmed via a decision proposal. Two things tipped the balance:

01

AI-powered profile import

During the very first demo, the team was impressed by the AI-powered profile parsing. It was a feature that immediately set decídalo apart from the other solutions they had evaluated.

02

A deep understanding of the business

decídalo was built specifically for IT service providers. From the very beginning, the conversations took place on equal footing, with a clear understanding of the entire professional services lifecycle. This business-focused approach proved far more compelling than simply comparing feature lists.

“We were genuinely impressed when we saw the AI automatically parse employee profiles. We hadn’t seen anything like that with any other solution before. But what really convinced us was your understanding of our business. You built the platform specifically for IT service providers, and you can tell from the very beginning.”

Gerlinde Graßmann

The Journey

From decision to group-wide rollout

January 2026

Resource Management Kick-off

The resource management implementation began with a pilot group.

5
Summer 2026

Group-wide Go-live

Resource management was rolled out across all companies within the conet Group.

Rollout & Change Management

The Implementation

The implementation took place during a period of extensive organizational transformation. As part of HORIZON28, group companies were merged, a new target operating model was introduced, and processes such as resource and bid management were centralized. decídalo was implemented in parallel with this broader standardization initiative.

conet invested significant effort into communication and user enablement throughout the rollout. The team became deeply familiar with decídalo and used the platform’s quality indicator, the “Quality Traffic Light”, to make profile quality visible and continuously improve it over time.

Building on this, conet proactively launched a comprehensive internal communication campaign. This included explainer videos, role-based documentation with FAQs, early involvement of the works council, and office hours held three times a week. As a result, user acceptance was high from the very beginning.

Because everyone involved in the project had first-hand experience working in the IT services industry, the project team knew exactly how to engage employees, address concerns, and support adoption throughout the implementation process.

“The quality indicator was a great help. It allowed us to clearly define the minimum standard for profile quality. Over time, we gradually raised that standard step by step.”

In Everyday Use

Skills & CV Management

Today, employees maintain their skills and professional experience centrally in decídalo, supported by AI-powered suggestions that help generate and refine profile content. Based on these up-to-date profiles, CVs are generated for public sector tenders and private-sector proposals. Managers have a clear overview of all profiles and can export them directly whenever needed. The previous back-and-forth of downloading, editing, and sending documents back and forth has been eliminated.

Resource managers and bid managers increasingly work with resource requests. A tender is converted into a resource request, suitable candidates are matched, and CVs are generated directly from the platform. Additional features, such as generating multiple CVs in parallel for a single tender, are set to support the process even further in the future.

“Things have become much easier. Managers now have an excellent overview and can easily export data for further analysis. I just add one or two details to a profile, the AI suggests the rest, and that’s it.”

Gerlinde Graßmann

Group-wide steering

Resource Management

Since the group-wide go-live, resource managers have been planning capacity centrally in decídalo instead of relying on Excel spreadsheets and manual coordination. Resource availability, overutilization, and underutilization are now visible across all companies, enabling teams to identify staffing gaps early and respond proactively when employees are not fully allocated.

conet intentionally started with a clean, streamlined setup and is expanding the solution step by step. Planned enhancements include demand forecasting based on Salesforce opportunities and additional workflow automation.

“A tool creates transparency, but you also need people who take ownership of it. The two go hand in hand. And that’s exactly what decídalo delivers today.”

Gerlinde Graßmann

Embedded in the IT landscape

System integration

decídalo is deeply embedded in a complex landscape with SAP, Salesforce and other systems. The biggest challenge was clean technical integration. This was precisely where decídalo demonstrated how effectively it could be integrated into the existing system landscape through its available APIs and interfaces.

SAP as the single source of truth

Bookings and projects flow directly from SAP into decídalo, with no manual double entry. That keeps the leading system as the authoritative data basis.

Automated user provisioning with SCIM

User provisioning is fully automated via SCIM. New employees are created automatically, providing a scalable and efficient onboarding process for more than 1,500 users.

Forecasting with Salesforce

The next step: opportunities from Salesforce feed into capacity planning as provisional bookings and enable reliable forecasts.

Reporting & data analytics

Custom reports and exports, developed in close collaboration with conet, provide the insights and key metrics needed to manage skills, resource utilization, and staffing demands more effectively.

“We did not want manual maintenance; the essential part, the projects and project members, should come directly from SAP.”

Michael Fritz

Impact

The results

With decídalo, conet did not just introduce a tool; it unified processes and data across the entire group:

Group-wide transparency

For the first time, skills, profiles and utilization are visible on one basis across all companies, forming the foundation for well-informed decisions.

Reduced manual effort

CVs are generated automatically from maintained profiles, significantly reducing the manual effort involved in compiling and rewriting information for large tenders.

Easy profile maintenance with AI

AI-powered suggestions make profiles easier to maintain. More than 1,600 maintained profiles demonstrate the platform’s widespread adoption.

Comparable data

Whether in Switzerland or Germany, regardless of the individual company, decídalo brings together standardized, comparable data across the entire organization.

“The real value of transparency comes from having comparable data across the entire organization. Whether someone is based in Switzerland or Germany, or belongs to any of our group companies, we can work with consistent data. That’s a tremendous advantage for us.”

Solveig Wendler, Head of Business Applications, conet Group

Conclusion

“Transparency, that is the most important thing. On that basis you can make decisions and set things in motion. That is the biggest benefit of decídalo.”

Gerlinde Graßmann, conet
